Russian music lovers know Rosenbaum the musician, while Russian readers have, to their great delight, discovered Rosenbaum the poet.   He focuses mostly on love for his homeland, on the Great Patriotic War, and on the lives of his compatriots across different generations he cares deeply about. Alexander’s poems treat the eternal matters of good and evil, peace and war, a man’s love for his woman and his country.   Alexander encountered the world of music at the tender age of five. He learned to play the violin and the piano, and graduated from music school. After finishing secondary school, Alexander trained to be a physician, like his parents. For several years, the future singer worked as part of an ambulance crew. But his destiny lay elsewhere. While working, Alexander also continued his music studies at an evening jazz vocational college and, in 1980, he embarked on his musical career, becoming a member of the rock band Pulse. He gave his first solo concert, a smashing success, in Leningrad in 1983. Rosenbaum was now firmly established as an artist and musician.   Alexander Rosenbaum lives an intense, busy life: he has a tightly packed touring schedule, meets with journalists and fans, takes part in TV shows and concerts. He is also very active as a public figure. Since his music career took off, he has given about 4,000 concerts in Russia and around the world.
