Walking out into the field at night with a horse? Yes! Why do birch trees rustle so much in Russia? No matter! Calling someone's name softly? With pleasure! What questions can there be when the songs of Lyube are played? The band, whose songs are sung around campfires, at all holidays, and just when the weather is good, will perform a concert at the RED ARENA stage. We look forward to welcoming all lovers of soulful music on January 6th.
The band was formed in 1989 by composer Igor Matvienko and vocalist Nikolai Rastorguev. Interestingly, it was Rastorguev who came up with the band's unusual name: the word "lyube" is a slang word from his childhood, meaning "different" or "all sorts." As for their musical style, Lyube's work is most often classified as folk rock.
Throughout their career, the band has combined patriotic themes with folk humor. Lyube's hallmark is their many hits, which are truly known and loved throughout the country. The songs "Kon'," "Kombat," "Davay za...," "Beryozy," "Pozovi menya tikho po ime" (Call Me Quietly by My Name), and many others have stood the test of time and remain popular to this day.
Over the course of 35 years, the musicians have performed countless concerts. Their live performances have attracted millions of spectators across Russia and abroad, invariably selling out. The band's success was immediate—they captivated audiences almost from their very first appearance.
The secret to Lyube's enduring popularity lies in a successful combination of many factors. These include the hits co-written by Igor Matvienko and talented poets, the unique timbre of Nikolai Rastorguev, the recognizable arrangements, the powerful sound, and the use of a choir, which gives the music a special soulfulness. All of this together has resonated with listeners for many years.
See you at the Lyube concert at the RED ARENA on January 6th. The show starts at 7:00 PM. Buy your tickets in advance to secure the best seats!
